Tribute & Message From The Family

Patrick Vincent Aloysius Callery passed away at his Soho loft from natural causes, at age 57. Born in Pottsville, PA, to Dr. Vincent A. Callery and Elizabeth Kirwan Callery. He attended the Governor's School, eventually becoming a teacher and advisor of the arts. He graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a focus on photography. After living in Philadelphia, he moved to New York City to work for the Leo Castelli Gallery and Fischer Landau Center for Art. He opened his own galleries at his Greene Street loft, Soho and Meatpacking District. Known for his distinctive eye for cultivating creative talent, he was sought after for projects that propelled artists to the next level, making him a quiet but powerful influence in the art world for 30 years. He had recently returned to his original love of photography, working diligently and traveling to Hawaii. He is survived by his adoring mother, his three wonderful sisters Meg, Jennifer and Elizabeth; as well as treasured nieces and nephews. His beloved CZ knows that he is now at peace with Po. Service details to be determined.

Sending my deepest condolences to Patrick's family and close friends. It has been years since I last saw him but he was always a breath of fresh air from when I first met him at Castelli to meeting Tony Feher and other great artists. His passion for art made him a shining light for artists and all lovers of art. He will be missed but not forgotten.

MRS. CALLERY, MEG, JEN, BIZZY,CZ AND FAMILIES IT IS WITH PROFOUND SHOCK AND SADNESS THAT I WRITE THIS MESSAGE. THE WORLD WAS A SUPREMELY BETTER PLACE WITH YOUR SON AND BROTHER IN IT . MY DEEPSEST CONDOLENCES TO YOU ALL. AS KIDS AND TEENAGERS WE HAD A LOAD OF FUN FROM HAVING OUR WISDOM TEETH OUT TOGETHER, TO MAKING PRANK PHONE CALLS TO DEVELOPING FILM AND MAKING PRINTS AT SCHOOL. TRAVELING TO ITALY IN '78 ON THE LATIN CLUB TRIP AND IMITATING PAULIO THE BUS DRIVER LOL.... PAT INTRODUCED ME TO PHOTOGRAPHY, JETHRO TULL, THE WHO AND MONTY PYTHON.....NO ONE COULD DUPLICATE "THERE'S A PENGUIN ON THE TELLY" LIKE PAT.
ALTHOUGH I HAVEN'T SEEN NOR SPOKEN TO HIM IN MANY YEARS THE TIME DID NOT DIMINISH NOR ERASE THE WONDERFUL, FUN TIMES WE HAD. MAY THE MEMORY OF HIS SHORT BUT BRILLIANT LIFE GIVE YOU COMFORT REMEMBERING THE HAPPIEST OF MEMORIES. MY BEST TO YOU ALL .
RESPECTFULLY WITH SYMPATHY....DAVID C. FAUST BLANDON PA
